Simplex Trident Trailer Load Bank (500-2500kW)

The Simplex Trident Trailer-mounted Load Bank is designed for very high capacity load testing of generators or electric dynamometer testing of large engines and turbines. The Trident may be used alone or in systems of multiple units which yield total capacities of tens or hundreds of megawatts.

FEATURES

• Standard Load Capacity Options: See Model Chart. Other capacity and voltage options are also avilable.
  
• Digital Load Control: Nominal 5kW resolution.
• Duty Cycle: Rated for continuous operation.
• Controller: The Simplex D-Series Digital Controller is PLC-based, network capable, and comes with a local 8 inch color TFT touch-screen operator interface – easily removable from panel (remote touch-screen also available – see Options below). The digital controller uses MODBUS over RS-485 network communication.
• Instrumentation: Digital power transducer with Ethernet communication to digital controller. Data display on touchscreen. Data acquisition and recording.
• Control/Cooling Power: Dual voltage control power transformer with supply power switchable to internal (generator) or external.
• Cooling: Integral forced air cooling system; 3-phase, direct drive motor; Forced air, horizontal airflow – cold air intake, hot air exhaust.
• Load Elements: Simplex “Powr-Web” chromium alloy, open wire, continuously supported, power resistor.
• Malfunction Protection: Protection against fan failure, high exhaust air temperature, high intake air temperature, overvoltage and fan reversal. Exhaust air temperature displays on screen.
• Load Circuit Protection: Branch circuit fuses. One set of fuses each 50KW branch. Fuses are current limiting type, 200,000 AIC, 600V, enabling safe use on large generating or UPS system.
• Load Connections: Cam-type power connections behind hinged door. Snap-back protective covers.
• Enclosure: Type 3R weatherproof power section, including load elements and cooling fan; Type 3R weatherproof control section, thermally and electrically isolated from resistive load power section; Double wall construction for cool exterior; Service access from three sides via hinged doors with lockable latches; Finish painted with a UL Listed process consisting of either a powder-coated finish or a liquid-coated finish consisting of an epoxy primer and a polyurethane finish.
• Network Capable: Multiple Trident load banks can be paralleled to achieve virtually any total capacity desired.
• Tandem-Axle Trailer: Extra-heavy duty steel trailer with steel deck. All welded frame construction. Meets all DOT requirements for highway use. User specified hitches (2 5/16″ ball hitch or 3″ pintle ring hitch adjustable in 2″ increments). Electric brakes with breakaway system. Mechanical parking brake. DOT lighting and connector. Leaf springs suspension. Safety chains.
• National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): Satisfies the requirements for emergency stand-by power systems.
